In 2006, on a family trip, my two-year-old daughter Arden was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Everything changed in an afternoon.
I wasn't a doctor. I was a stay-at-home dad who was scared and refused to stay that way. I started writing things down -- what worked, what didn't, what nobody told us at the hospital. In January 2015 that turned into a microphone, and the microphone turned into the Juicebox Podcast.
Twelve years later it's more than 1,850 episodes, a private community of 84,000, another 60,000 across Facebook and Instagram, a book, a cruise, and over twenty-one million downloads. No network ever signed off on any of it. It grew because it's honest, because it helps, and because people keep showing up -- one download every seventeen seconds.
I built the audience. Now I help others reach it -- and make media for the brands who want in.
